Maharashtra: Man booked for printing tricolour upside down on banners for Viksit Bharat Sankalpa Yatra event

THANE: A case has been filed against a contractor for allegedly printing the national tricolour upside down on banners used as a backdrop during an event organized in Thane district, Maharashtra, to watch Prime Minister Narendra Modis interaction with beneficiaries of the Viksit Bharat Sankalpa Yatra. The banners were prominently displayed on the stage during the program held at Kalher gram panchayat premises in Bhiwandi on December 9.Following a complaint filed by the block development officer of Bhiwandi, the contractor now faces charges under the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971. The Narpoli police station official stated that an investigation is ongoing, and as of now, no arrests have been made.The contractor, responsible for printing banners for the event organized by Thane Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti, allegedly deviated from the provided background sample by printing the tricolour upside down. Notable figures present at the event included Union Minister of State Kapil Patil, Thane Guardian Minister Shamburaj Desai, and Collector Ashok Shingare, among others.(With agency inputs)
