3 kidnap 17-yr-old girl, booked

Thane: The Navi Mumbai police have registered a case of kidnapping against a man and two of his family members after he allegedly eloped with a 17-year-old girl under the pretext of marrying her, said an official on Sunday.The accused and the girl had an affair for the last six months, the official from Panvel Town police station said.The accused allegedly kidnapped the girl at around 10 am on December 6 from near Uran Phata at Karanjade in Panvel.The girl is yet to be traced, said the official from Panvel Town police.Following a complaint by the girls parents, the police on Saturday registered a case against the man and two other members of his family under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 363 (kidnapping) and 34 (criminal act done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), said the official. The girl converted to Muslim faith to marry a businessperson from Pingla. The court observed that she was 16 at the time of marriage and 17 during the birth of their child, despite her marriage certificate stating she was 18. The couple is now settled in Pingla.
