Man’s body found in Thane creek

Thane: The body of an unidentified man was found floating near the Visarjan Ghat of Gaimukh Creek in the Ghobunder Road area on Sunday, said the official. The body has been sent for post-mortem and the Kasarwadavali police have launched a probe into the death. The aerators will control bacterial activity and algae growth, maintaining oxygen content in the water. The WRD is already desilting the creek and has constructed barrages near the sewerage treatment plant. The department has also repaired retaining walls to prevent flooding during the monsoon. Previous attempts by the Goa State Pollution Control Board to aerate the creek using pumps were unsuccessful.
