Padgha dad-son, 2 siblings among 15 arrested by NIA

Thane: A father-son duo, two brothers in their early 20s, and a man with police contacts are among the 15 people arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) from Borivali and Padgha villages in Thane district during Saturday morning raids. They have been booked for allegedly promoting terror and terror-related acts and activities of the proscribed Islamic State (IS). However, several villagers that TOI spoke to on Sunday refused to believe the arrested men were involved in any criminal or terror activities. They said arrested siblings Razil Abdul Lateef and Rafil Nachan drove a taxi on the Padgha-Bhiwandi route. Their father passed away five months ago. The two brothers do not indulge in any criminal activity. They go to work every day and return home, a local said, report Mateen Hafeez and Pradeep Gupta.
