Train bully slashes man’s face with a razor, booked

THANE: An argument over sharing footboard space aboard a running train led to an ugly fight between two commuters where one of them slashed the other on his face using a sharp razor, officials informed. The Thane railway police that registered a case against the attacker said the incident occurred aboard a slow Kalyan-bound local train late on Sunday.The duo was allegedly travelling unauthorised in the divyang coach of a slow local train towards Kalyan.The victim who works with a garment trader at Vashi had boarded the train at Thane and got into an argument with the accused over sharing footboard space. The duo started arguing and by the time the train reached Kalwa station, their fight turned ugly following which the accused fished out a sharp razor like object and slashed the victim on his face, informed Pandhari Kande, senior inspector at the Thane railway police. The block will be in effect from 11.10am to 4.10pm on the Kurla - Vashi Up and Down Harbour line. During this time, certain services will be cancelled, but special suburban trains will run on the Mumbai Kurla section. Harbour line services will still be available between Thane-Vashi/Nerul stations from 10am to 6pm. Passengers are advised to bear with the inconvenience caused by the maintenance block.Railways to run 5 special trains passing OdishaThe Railways will operate five special trains to manage the extra rush during Diwali and Chhat festival. Among them, one train will run via Bhubaneswar, while the rest will originate from various stations in Odisha. A Jan Sadharan unreserved special train will also start from Odisha. These trains will run on routes like Berhampur-Surat, Chennai Central-Bhubaneswar, Bengaluru-Bhubaneswar, Gomtinagar-Malatipatpur, and Chennai Central-Santragachi via Bhubaneswar. These special trains aim to alleviate the heavy demand of passengers during the festival season.
