Shakha used by Sena UBT demolished

THANE: Shakha ownership has once again become a hot button issue with the demoliton of a shakha used by the Shiv Sena (UBT) in Mumbra. The Shiv Sena led by CM Eknath Shinde claimed responsibility for the demolition in Shankar Nagar.Shinde supporters Gopal Landge and Rajan Keni, a former Mumbra corporator, arrived at the spot after the razing and claimed ownership of the shakha.They conducted a groundbreaking ceremony and announced a new structure at the spot.The shakha structure belonged to the Shiv Sena. The Thackeray camp was misusing it and had leased it for commercial use. We didnt want the sanctity of the premises to be tarnished and so demolished it and will reconstruct it in two months, Landge said.Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anish Gadhave said the shakha was registered in their name. It was built in 2000 by Shiv Sena late leader Anand Dighe. Last week, 50-60 men led by some apparent Shinde supporters turned up and evacuated a few senior Sena activists who were seated inside. The accused was released on a bail bond and surety of Rs 50,000, with conditions to not tamper with evidence or witnesses.Jana Sena makes poll debut in state, names eight candidatesJana Sena, in alliance with BJP, has announced candidates for eight seats in its debut in Telanganas assembly elections. The party had initially expressed interest in contesting 36 seats, but BJP offered only 8-10 seats. Jana Sena has fielded candidates from various constituencies, including Kukatpally, where it named a former BJP member as its nominee. BJP is still deliberating on whether to give Jana Sena the Serilingampally seat. Despite some opposition within the party, BJPs high command is keen on an electoral understanding with Jana Sena.
