Septic tank blasts in hsg society on GB Rd

Thane: Accumulation of gases in an underground septic tank of a housing society along the Ghodbunder Road led to an explosion that damaged part of the road above, Friday late night, officials informed. No one was injured in the incident.Yasin Tadvi, in-charge at the Thane regional disaster management cellsaid the incident was reported around 9pm when local residents heard a loud explosion which caused cracks on the surface above the tanks and smashed the paver blocks.The society alerted the firemen who rushed to the spot. Prima facie investigation ruled that the explosion had occurred due to the pent up gases in the tank.The tank may have exploded due to excess pressure inside it. The sale to Romania still needs to be approved by Congress.No road toll for Mulund society residents: Deputy CM Devendra FadnavisResidents of Hari Om Nagar in Mulund, Mumbai, will be exempted from paying road toll, as instructed by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Local BJP MLA Mihir Kotecha raised the issue with Fadnavis, highlighting that the area is part of Mulund but located beyond the toll plaza. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) will now carry out verification of the residents and grant them the exemption.
