Man attacks former lover’s mom, booked

Thane: An offence has been registered against a man for allegedly beating up his former girlfriends mother in Thane, the police said on Monday. Based on a complaint, the police have registered an offence under section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by the use of a dangerous weapon or means) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, an officer said.The incident took place in the Panchpakhadi area on November 11, he said. Four pistols, ammunition, petrol bottles, and cash were found in Singhs car. He initially claimed to have obtained the weapons from a business associate but later changed his story. Police are now investigating the source of the weapons and will seek further custody of Singh. Singh confessed to killing Berger over a payment dispute related to rituals and occult practices. The police are verifying if Berger approached any bank managers to withdraw a large sum of money.Man injured while trying to douse kitchen fire caused by gas cylinder leakage in ThaneA man in Thane, Maharashtra sustained injuries while trying to put out a kitchen fire caused by a gas cylinder leakage. The incident occurred in a high-rise building on Ghodbunder Road. The fire was quickly brought under control by local fire officials and the disaster management team, but significant damage was done to the kitchen furniture and stored items. The injured man was rescued and taken to a private hospital for treatment.
