Narrow escape for elderly couple as fire breaks out in Ulhasnagar flat due to firecracker

ULHASNAGAR: A firecracker sparked a fire in a flat owned by the Chanchalani family in Ulhasnagar late on Tuesday. The elderly couple residing in the flat managed to escape before the fire could engulf their home.The incident occurred around 11.55pm on the third floor of the Radha Krishna society building in Camp Number 1.Fire officials said that use of firecrackers by some locals led to a fire on the balcony where the family had hung clothes for drying.Quick-thinking residents promptly alerted the fire brigade.As the fire spread, the couple inside the flat, who were asleep at the time, woke up and managed to evacuate. The fire brigade arrived promptly and controlled the fire, preventing it from spreading to other flats.This marks the second fire incident caused by firecrackers in Ulhasnagar during this Diwali festival season.
