Thane MP urges PM to start Digha Gaon rly line

Thane: Thane MP and UBT leader Rajan Vichare in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requested to start the Digha Gaon railway line on the Airoli-Kalwa elevated route which has been ready for the last seven months.Vichare, who has switched sides to Shiv Senas Uddhav Thackeray faction thanked the PM for starting the Belapur-Pendhar metro rail line which was awaiting inauguration for the last five months without any formal function.Its inauguration was stalled as the PM could not find any time for the inaugural function, Vichare said in the letter.Vichare further pointed out that the people residing in the limits of the 11 stations on the route were held to ransom due to the inordinate delay in the inauguration of the railway line. Also the metro services ran on this route three to five times without any passengers.In his letter Vichare also said that after criticism by the people of Navi Mumbai for PM and Cidco, the signature campaign undertaken by the UBT and the reactions, the PM did not wait for any formal inauguration and directed the Chief Minister to start of the services after Diwali which is a welcome decision he said.He also mentioned in the letter that regarding the Digha Gaon railway line on the Airoli-Kalwa elevated route, he had given multiple reminders to the railway minister and the minister of state but of no avail.A number of IT companies have come up in Digha village and those coming to work here are required to depend on Airoli or Thane railway station.In order save time and money it is absolutely necessary to start the Digha Gaon railway station, he added. A special train will depart from Kalyan at 2.30 am and arrive at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 4 am on the Main Line. On the Harbour Line, a special train will depart from Panvel at 2.30 am and arrive at CSMT at 3.50 am. These special services will stop at all stations.Megablocks on Central Railway could inconvenience commuters on SundayThe Central Railway, Mumbai Division will carry out engineering and maintenance works on Sunday, resulting in a megablock on its suburban sections. The block will affect both the Main line and Harbour line, with specific timings for each. Special services will be available between Panvel and Kurla, and Harbour line passengers will be allowed to travel via the Main Line and Western Railway during the block period.
