Man held for murder, 2 teenage boys on run after decomposed body of missing youth found in Thane

THANE: A 28-year-old man has been arrested on a murder charge, while two teenage boys remain at large, following the discovery of the badly decomposed body of an 18-year-old youth in Maharashtras Thane district, as reported by the police on Tuesday. Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim, identified as Avesh Sheikh, was killed by the trio due to an ongoing dispute.The body was found abandoned in the bushes on the Devripada hillock in Mumbra on Monday. Authorities discovered a stone and a pair of scissors at the crime scene.Avesh Sheikh, residing in the Amrut Nagar locality in Mumbra, had gone missing on November 14. According to the official, he used to visit his uncle in the Jubilee Park area."We have arrested Aftab Abdul Sheikh on the charge of murder while a search is on for two teenagers. They are not detained yet. The investigation revealed that Sheikh was brutally killed by the trio following an old dispute," stated Sanjay Pawar, the inspector at Mumbra police station.A missing person report was filed by the police on November 16, triggering an investigation to locate Sheikh. Subsequent to the recovery of the deceaseds body, a case was registered under sections 302 (Punishment for murder) and 201 (Causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).(With agency inputs)
