THANE: Police have registered a case against three unidentified persons for allegedly abducting a 27-year-old man who worked in a fabrication unit in Thane and extorting Rs 48,000 from him, an official said on Thursday. Based on the complaint, the police on Wednesday registered a case against the unidentified persons under Indian Penal Code sections 386 (extortion), 364A (kidnapping for ransom), 392 (robbery) and 34 (common intention) and a probe was on into it, the official said. The victim, VS Kartik, the director of a digital marketing firm named Viral Zone Media, filed a complaint with KG Halli police stating that he was forcefully transferred money from his account by the kidnappers. The case was later transferred to the CCB for investigation.Woman files complaint against MPs son, accused of extortionA 24-year-old woman from Bengaluru filed a cheating case against Ballari MP (BJP) Devendrappas son Ranganath, stating that he had cheated her on the pretext of marriage. The woman alleged that Ranganath was avoiding her after forcing her into a physical relationship with him. In response, Ranganath claimed it was a political conspiracy against him and denied any wrongdoing. Additionally, Ranganath filed a police complaint accusing the woman and a man from Bengaluru of trying to extort money from him.Club staffer arrested for extortionAn employee of a club in Calangute was arrested for extorting Rs 16,000 from a customer. Sandeep Shiralkar, a resident of Kolhapur, Maharashtra, filed a robbery complaint against two club staffers. Yogendra Behera, a native of Kendrapara, Odisha, was arrested and remanded in police custody. The other accused is still absconding.
