THANE: In a groundbreaking development, Shiv Sena Member of Parliament, Dr Shrikant Shinde, declared that the eagerly awaited tenders for the ambitious Kalyan-Taloja metro route 12 will be announced within the next two days. The initiative aims to establish a vital connectivity link between Thane, Kalyan-Dombivli, Bhiwandi, Navi Mumbai, and Mumbai, with potential far-reaching benefits for residents and commuters.The announcement followed a pivotal meeting between Dr Shinde and metropolitan commissioner Dr Sanjay Mukherjee at the MMRDA headquarters in Mumbai, focusing on elevating the transport infrastructure in the extended suburbs of Thane.Dr Shinde emphasized the pivotal role of the metro 12 project, stating that it will not only enhance the lives of Kalyan and Dombivli residents but also create seamless connectivity for inhabitants of Thane, Bhiwandi, and Mumbai. The integration with other metro lines, including Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan metros and the Navi Mumbai metro, will establish an interconnected network facilitating efficient travel across the extended suburban expanse.Metro route 12, spanning from Kalyan-Dombivli to Taloja, is poised to interconnect with the Kasarwadavli-Wadala metro on one end and the Navi Mumbai metro connecting Taloja on the other. This integration promises a fluid and comprehensive connectivity solution, bridging different parts of the extended suburbs.Moreover, the MMRDA is actively exploring the prospect of constructing a road loop encircling the extended suburbs of Titwala, Ambernath, Badlapur, Kalyan, and Dombivli. This strategic initiative aims to expedite the exit of motorists from city limits, facilitating faster access to state and national highways traversing the district.
