Navi Mumbai cops seize ₹11 lakh MD, two arrested from Taloja

Thane: The Navi Mumbai police have arrested two persons after seizing mephedrone (MD), a banned drug, worth Rs 10.90 lakh from them, an official said on Thursday. Acting on a tip-off, a team of the polices anti-narcotics cell intercepted the duo on Tuesday evening at Pendhar Phata on Kalamboli-Mumbra road in Talojaarea when they were travelling on a scooter.The police recovered 107gm of mephedrone from the duo, aged 28 and 36, a Taloja police station official said.PTIWe also published the following articles recentlyMumbai Police seizes assets worth Rs 3 crore belonging to four held in drugs caseAssets worth Rs 3 crore, allegedly accumulated by four individuals involved in a drug haul case, were seized by the Mumbai police. Banned drugs valued at Rs 55.92 lakh were seized from their possession. The police confiscated 554.02 gm of mephedrone worth Rs 55,40,200 and 2.63 kg of ganja valued at Rs 52,000. The individuals were charged under the provisions of the NDPS Act and remanded in police custody until November 30. This follows the recent arrest of two Nigerians by the Tulinj police.Police book MMRDA officials after boy electrocutedA 15-year-old boy from Chembur was electrocuted near the Eastern Express highway barricade erected by MMRDA officials. The police have registered an offense of causing death due to negligence against the unknown officials responsible. The boys grandmother rushed to the spot where he was lying near the barricade, but was unable to touch him due to the live wire. Preliminary inquiries revealed that MMRDA had left a loose electric wire which caused the electrocution. The police are questioning the site supervisor and contractor.
