Man accused of murder, his aide held in 6 robbery cases

Thane: The Kalwa police have arrested two persons including a murder accused in connection with six cases of robbery and have seized stolen booty worth Rs 4.2 lakh.The accused have been identified as Mohammad alias Salman Sayyed alias Jafri , 28 , a resident of Ambivali and his accomplice Shabbir Khan, a resident of Igatpuri. Khan is an accused in a murder case dating back to 2014, for which the case is registered at the Igatpuri police station.We tracked the accused with the help of CCTV footage covering up to 80km and nabbed him.He confessed to committing fivechain snatching and one bike theft, said Ganesh Gawade, deputy commissioner of police (zone 1).Jafri told the police that he had given the stolen gold to Khan and accordingly the police nabbed him. The police said Jafri earlier has 16 cases including, eight chain snatching and five motor vehicle theft cases registered against him. He was out on bail. The police were tracing the accused and a team was behind them when they exchanged fires near Tibba road. The Ludhiana Commissioner of Police, Kuldeep Singh Chahal, confirmed the development and mentioned that he was on his way to the location of the encounter.
