THANE: The Shrinagar police in Thane arrested a 41-year-old Surat based tailor allegedly for blackmailing his employer and extorting money from her, over their photos in compromising positions while they were in a relationship.The accused has been identified as Vishal Rathod, the police said. According to police, the arrested accused worked with the victim and would design western clothes in an apparel store owned by the complainant.It was since the last two years, both got into a relationship and had clicked pictures and videos together.The police said that they received a complaint from the victim that the accused was issuing threats of making viral on social media their objectionable photos and videos. To avoid the same made demands from time to time from the complainant and her family members and accepted an extortion money of Rs 1.10 lakhs so far. He also made a demand of Rs 50,000 additionally to settle the issue once for all. Fed up with the constant demand, the victim filed a complaint with the Srinagar police station under various sections of extortion, said Kiran Kabadi, senior inspector of Shrinagar police station.The police laid a trap, and accordingly the accused was called up to Sat Rasta of Mulund, while accepting Rs 30,000 from the complainant, he was trapped and arrested.The police also seized his mobile, sim-card, and extorted money from the arrested accused.The officer added that a further investigation is underway in this regard.
