BHIWANDI: Two teenagers were arrested on Wednesday and booked in a murder case for allegedly stabbing a 16-year-old boy to death nearly two weeks ago and burying his body. The minor had been reported missing on November 28. His mother had reported last seeing him on November 25 and did not return home after that. The arrested accused - Aayush Jha and Manoj Tope - both 19-year-old residents of Kamatghar locality in Bhiwandi have confessed to the crime, said officials of Narpoli police station where the murder case has been registered. The two teenagers on Thursday led a police team to the spot where they had buried the body and the mortal remains were exhumed in the presence of five witnesses, including the tehsildar, after which the body was sent for an autopsy. The 16-year-old boy and the two arrested teenagers had criminal cases registered against them, the police said, adding that they were involved in hooliganism in the locality and that they often picked up fights with one another. On November 28, the mother of the minor, Yogesh Sharma, had approached the police to register a missing persons complaint as her son had not returned home for three days.Senior police inspector Bharat Kamat formed a team led by assistant inspector Sharad Pawar who, during the probe, found that the boy had had a dispute with the other two teenagers. The two 19-year-olds were detained and interrogated. They confessed that they had called the 16-year-old to an isolated place, telling him that they wanted to settle their past disputes, said the investigation officer."They have confessed that they stabbed him to death near Reti Bandar and later buried the body," the official said. The police said the minor used to look up to an infamous goon from Uttar Pradesh as his idol. The police, who had initially filed a missing persons complaint, have now registered it as a murder case.
