Financial experts highlight key outcomes of G20 leaders’ meet

Varanasi: On the eve of the two-day 4th G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group (SFWG) Meeting commencing here on Wednesday, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) officials and experts from financial institutions took part in a domestic outreach event on G20 sustainable finance working group: Towards strong, sustainable, balanced and inclusive growth at Malviya Mulya Anusheelan Kendra of BHU on Tuesday.Speaking on the occasion, adviser to the Ministry of Finance Geetu Joshi highlighted the key outcomes of the G20 leaders summit held on September 9 and 10 in New Delhi. The outcomes were achieving strong, sustainable, balanced and inclusive growth; accelerating progress on sustainable development goals (SDGS); green development pact for a sustainable future; developing multilateral institutions for the 21st century; technological transformation and digital public infrastructure; and gender equality and empowering all women and girls.The event had two sessions and the first session comprised experience sharing presentations on the theme Scaling up Social Impact Investment in India. The presentations were on social stock exchange by AGM, SEBI Abhishek Rozatkar and on development impact bond by CFO, Educate Girls Vijaylakshmi Saxena.The second session comprised a panel discussion on all the priority areas of the G20 SFWG. The panel discussion was moderated by RBI CGM Brij Raj. The panelists including CPIs India director Dhruba Purkayastha, SBI MD Ashwini Kumar Tewari and IFCs senior country officer Roshika Singh gave gave several suggestions on the priority areas of the G20 SFWG like mechanisms for mobilisation of timely and adequate resources for climate finance, enabling finance for the SDGs and capacity building of the ecosystem for financing toward sustainable development.Earlier in the day, RBI Regional Director, Lucknow Balu Kenchappa welcomed the participants at the domestic outreach event, attended by over 250 participants. Officials from commercial banks, small finance banks, NBFCs, faculty and postgraduate students of BHU also attended the event.
