Woman’s body found in trolley bag

Varanasi: The body of an unidentified woman, wrapped in some clothes and a plastic sheet, was found inside an abandoned trolley bag in jungles near Dhankuwari village in Chakarghatta police station area, in Chandauli district on Friday. After inspecting the spot, Chandauli SP Anil Kumar said that body of the woman, aged around 30, was stuffed inside a red suitcase and dumped in the jungle. It is suspected that the woman, who had a tattoo on her hand reading Sarita-Deepak, was murdered around three-four days ago as the body had started decaying when it was found, he said. The body has been sent for postmortem after lodging an FIR in this connection, said the SP adding that the police teams heve been sent in different parts of Chandauli, Sonbhadra and also Bihar to ascertain the identity of the woman. Police were waiting for the postmortem report to find out the cause of the death and whether she was sexually harassed .The incident came to light with the spread of foul smell in the bushes of jungle near Dhankuwari village, adjacent to the border of Sonbhadra district and Bihar. When villagers reached the jungle they noticed a red suitcase in the bushes swarmed by flies and alerted the police.Initially, the Sonbhadra and Chandauli police took some time in deciding the area of jurisdiction. In the meantime, the Chandauli SP reached the spot and asked Chakarghatta police to start the legal formalities. The area, where the body was found, is located near a bridge on river Karmnasha. tnn
