Varanasi: Three days after the daring heist in which a cash van guard was killed and Rs 35 lakh looted in Mirzapur on September 12, the cops have failed to find clues about the miscreants.Senior officials on Friday announced action against lax cops, while also announcing Rs 1 lakh award on inputs about the miscreants.Additional superintendent of police (ASP) Shrikant Prajapati and circle officer (CO) Parmanand Kushwaha of Mirzapur had been attached to police headquarters Lucknow. Four other cops, including inspector Katra and Dankinganj outpost in-charge had been suspended, said ADG Varanasi zone Ram Kumar.The ASP and the CO will stay in the district till the case is worked out. They have been transferred for not alerting the senior officials timely.ADG said that teams engaged to nab the looters are working round the clock and the case is expected to be worked out very soon. On September 12, four armed miscreants riding two bikes shot dead a cash van guard Jai Singh and injured three others, including cashiers Akhilesh of Padri and Rajnish Maurya of Visunderpur and a passer-by, Bahadur Gond of Vindhyachal near Beltar branch of Axis Bank under Katra Kotwali police station in Mirzapur.The looters had fled with a metal box and a bag containing Rs 35 lakh. The condition of the injured persons was improving, said officials.As per the initial investigations, the looters had executed their plan after proper recce and they were well aware about the routes connecting the city to remote areas. Police had also released a photo of one of the looters obtained with the help of CCTV footage.
