Three arrested for printing fake currency notes

Varanasi: Mau police arreseted three members of a gang involved in printing counterfeit Indian currency notes on Sunday. The gang revealed that they took help of social media platforms to learn the tricks of printing fake currency notes.SP May Avinash Pandey said that on getting intelligence inputs regarding movement of criminals in the district, a joint team of special operation group, special weapons and tactics, surveillance cell and Kopaganj police was formed. A checking drive was launched by the team near Kachhikala underpass in night where they stopped a car. On checking the car the police found CFIC notes of Rs 14.11 lakh face value, three reams of papers used for printing CFIC, printers, mobile phones, a car and cash worth Rs 1.17 lakh.All the three occupants of the car, identified as Ankur Kumar Bind, Kunal Yadav of Ghazipur and Surendra Sagar Singh Sonkar of Sonbhadra district, were arrested, said police.During initial interrogation the trio divulged that they used to move in different districts of the state with CFIC notes and used to target people and traders, especially in small townships and markets, to exchange it with genuine currency. They said that genuine currency of Rs 1.17 lakh recovered from them was collected by exchanging the CFIC notes. They said that they were heading to Gorakhpur with the consignment of CFIC notes when they were caught. Ankur divulged that he was serving his term in jail where he came in contact with Kunal and Surendra and became their friend. On being released from jail recently, they learnt tricks of printing fake currency notes with the help of social media platforms. After succeeding in printing CFIC notes, Ankur started engaging Kunal and Surendra to different district with its consignments to run it. Counterfeit currency cases have recently resulted in significant prison sentences for offenders, highlighting the serious impact on the countrys economy. In a separate incident, a man in Agartala attempted to open an emergency door mid-flight due to depression, but was stopped by crew members and passengers.Cash-for-bills scam: ACB approaches court for permission to get currency notes exchangedHaryanas Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has requested permission from the court to exchange Rs 2,000 currency notes recovered from a New Delhi resident linked to a cash for release of grant scam. The resident, Poonam Chopra, is allegedly connected to the Haryana Skill Development Mission scam. The court has set September 25th and 26th as the next hearing dates for the case. Chopra is currently out on bail and a chargesheet has been filed against her. The fate of IAS officer Vijay Dahiya, also involved in the case, remains uncertain.Woman gets 10 years RI in counterfeit currency caseA woman named Alta Azam Shaikh has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for possessing and using counterfeit currency. The court also convicted co-accused Jakir Shaikh and sentenced him to five years. The judge stated that the offense was serious and caused damage to the countrys economy. In a separate case, a woman named J Vanitha has been sentenced to six years in jail for circulating counterfeit currency. She was the sixth person convicted in the case, which involved the seizure of 125 counterfeit Rs 2,000 notes.
