BHU students get insight on IPR

Varanasi: A one-day workshop was organized by the Intellectual Property Rights and Technology Transfer (IPRTT) cell of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) on Monday. The IPRTT cell has been established with the mandate to promote a vibrant ecosystem on the campus facilitating IP filing and promotion of IP awareness. The workshop was organized to create awareness and offer hand holding support to inventors of the university in every aspect of intellectual property protection and promotion of innovations. The controller general of patents, design and trademarks, Prof Unnat P Pandit inaugurated the workshop. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized on the need of doing invention which are relevant to the needs of society. BHU rector, Prof VK Shukla resided over the inaugural session. The workshopwas attended by 222 participants. The first technical session was addressed by the head of the Patent Facilitation Centre, Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC), Yashawant Dev Panwar. He spoke on IPR protection and its necessity, and explained all forms of IP and the criteria for the protection. The patent attorney, Sudarshan Singh Shekhawat addressed the second technical session on facilitating and maintenance. Manager of Gujarat State Fertilizers and Chemicals, Suresh, spoke on the technology transfer of IP-protected technologies during the third session. BHU registrar, Prof Arun Kumar Singh spoke about the support university is providing. He also talked about the feedback given by the participants and promised that university will provide necessary support to the cell according to the need. IPRTT cell coordinator Prof Birinchi Kumar Sarma, said the workshop has created a mass enthusiasm among the faculty members and researchers regarding the need of protection of Intellectual Property and promoting innovations in the university. The event, organized in celebration of International Millets Year 2023 and National Nutrition Month 2023, brought together scientists, farmers, NGOs, and self-help groups involved in millet production. The workshop featured a millet exhibition and emphasized the economic development opportunities of millet consumption in Uttarakhands agriculture and tourism sectors. Experts highlighted the nutritional benefits of millets and called for increased participation in exporting millet-based products.Workshop conductedThe Bharat Scouts and Guides Association organized a workshop for officials of the department of public instruction in Mangaluru. Anand K, CEO of the zilla panchayat, stressed the importance of schools having Scouts and Guides activities to help students develop self-awareness. Such activities teach children social concern, discipline, patience, duty, and responsibility, which benefit them in the future. The Chief Commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides, PGR Scindia, mentioned that their organization has enrolled six lakh students and trained 40,000 teachers in scouts and guides activities.
