Kashi receives Best City award in the north zone

Varanasi: Varanasi Smart City project was honoured with the Best City award in the north zone (with a population of more than 10 lakh) in the India Smart City Award Contest.The awards were presented by President Droupadi Murmu at the India Smart Cities Conclave-2023 organised by the Union ministry of urban and housing affairs in Indore, Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday. Chief executive officer Varanasi Smart City Sipu Giri received the award from the President. Under the Smart City Mission, Varanasi has been selected for this award on the basis of timely implementation of projects, financial sustainability, success story, utility of projects, efficient public participation and feedback system.Chief general manager, Varanasi Smart City, D Vasudevan termed this award as an honour for all the people of Kashi and said that the modern confluence with the spiritual form of Varanasi is leading the city towards development.Divisional commissioner and chairman of the Varanasi Smart City, Kaushal Raj Sharma expressed happiness over this achievement and congratulated all the residents of Kashi. The mayor and CEO of Chandigarh Smart City expressed pride and dedication to the citizens of the UT.Ranchi secures coveted India Smart City AwardRanchi, the capital of Jharkhand, has won the India Smart City Contest Award for urban development excellence. The Ranchi Smart City project was recognized as the Best Performer City in the eastern zone. The award was presented by President Droupadi Murmu at the India Smart City Conclave 2023 in Indore. Meanwhile, the business community in Dhanbad is interested in investing in the Ranchi Smart City project, but concerns have been raised about high rates for residential purposes. Tamil Nadu has also received recognition for its Smart City projects, winning the second-best state award.
