2 of Katihar gang held with looted ₹80K cash

Varanasi: Mau police arrested two robbers after exchange of fire in the Kotwali police station area on Saturday and recovered cash Rs 80,000, along with bank documents from them. The two men, who sustained bullet injuries in the leg during the cross-fire, were members of the Katihar gang, said police. SP Mau Avinash Pandey said a joint team of special operation group, surveillance cell and Kotwali had, following a tip-off, cordoned Dhekulia Ghat area and launched a massive checking drive on Saturday morning. Two youths coming from Bandha Road passed by and when police signalled to stop them, they tried to escape towards Ballia.Pandey said the duo arrested belonged to the Katihar gang and they used to camp in any district in rented rooms. After committing a loot near bank, petrol pump, or jewellery shop, they use to change their location. The woman has been arrested on charges of extortion, breach of trust, fraud, and second marriage while being married.
