Blood donation, helmet distribution at BHU

Varanasi: Trauma Centre of the Institute of Medical Science at Banaras Hindu University hosted a series of events to observe World Trauma Day on Tuesday. Apart from events to create awareness through a scientific session and a blood donation camp, the centre distributed free helmets among two-wheeler riders. Following over voluntary donation by 50 persons at a special blood donation camp, a scientific session was organised to mark World Trauma Day, which was observed on the Empowering Voice, Healing Together theme. Trauma centre in charge Professor Saurabh Singh highlighted that the day is observed annually to acknowledge the global impact of trauma and to create awareness about importance of effective trauma care and injury prevention for saving lives. Trauma, often resulting from accidents, violence, natural disasters, or other unexpected events, is a major public health issue affecting millions of people worldwide, he said, adding, World Trauma Day was a reminder of the urgent need for prevention, preparedness and quality care for trauma victims.Singh also said, the day was a reminder for everyone to work together to make the world a better, safer place. The theme underscored the vital role trauma care played in not only saving lives but also in providing a pathway to recovery and hope for survivors and their families, he added.
