1 crore property of Mukhtar’s aide seized in Sonbhadra

Varanasi: Ghazipur officials attached property worth Rs 1 crore of jailed mafia don Mukhtar Ansaris aide Mehruddin Khan in Obra area of Sonbhadra under Gangsters Act on Thursday while earlier in wednesday, the Mau police arrested his another close associate Rajesh Singh alias Rajan on the charges of issuing extortion threats to a gram pradhan.Ghazipur SP Omvir Singh said that under the ongoing drive to destroy the economic empire of gangsters, the police had detected a benami property (two plots) of Mehruddin Khan alias Nanhe Khan purchased in the name of his nephew Shahid Raza Khan in Millatnagar Fanhara area at Obra in Sonbhadra district. The value of these plots was estimated as Rs 1 crore, said the SP. After collection of all facts and evidences, confirming the use of illegally earned money in the purchase of these land, the police sent a report to the district magistrate Ghazipur.Following the DMs orders to attach the property under Gangster Act a team of Ghazipur police reached Sonbhadra district on Thursday. After seeking assistance of the local police, the team reached Millatnagar Fanhara village and completed the formalities of attaching the property.Mehruddin, a close associate of Mukhtar and a native of Karimuddinpur in Ghazipur, has a total of nine criminal cases including one under Gangsters Act is lodged against him. His nephew is a native of Fatehpur Atwa village in Ghazipur. Officials said that the drive to detect properties bought with illegally earned money by the gangsters and criminals is still in progress.Earlier, Mau police arrested Rajesh Singh of Khargajepur under Sarailakhansi police station on Wednesday. SP Sonbhadra Avinash Pandey said that Rajesh, a co-accused with Mukhtar in several cases and also associated with his gang, and his brother Umesh Singh had issued threats of dire consequences to the head of Khargajepur village Brijesh Singh for extortion of Rs one lakh.
