Varanasi: A salesman of a country liquor shop in Bhataura village, under Gahmar police station on Ghazipur-Buxar (Bihar) border, was shot dead on late Thursday night for allegedly refusing to provide alcohol after the outlet had closed at 10 pm.After attacking him, the assailants fled towards Buxar.Upon inspection, SP Ghazipur Omvir Singh on Friday said that during initial investigation it came to light that after opening fire on the salesman Dharmendra Singh (45), three miscreants had also looted the cash box of shop.Four teams have been engaged for early arrest of the assailants, he said, claiming that the case would be worked out very soon.Gahmar cops received information of the attack on Dharmendra, a native of Raunapar area in Azamgarh, around 11 pm on Thursday. After reaching the spot, the rushed Dharmendra to a community health centre Bhadaura from where he was referred to district hospital. On noticing sharp deterioration in his health condition, doctors referred him to trauma centre of BHU in Varanasi but he died on the way.Before his death, cops said, Dharmendra had informed them that due to ban of liquor in Bihar, guzzlers from neighbouring areas of Buxar cross Karmnasha river to reach his shops at Bhataura. On Thursday, three tipplers reached the shop after it was closed and started pressurising him to provide liquor. When Dharmendra expressed inability in doing so, they indulged in fighting with him and later opened indiscriminate fire.
