Varanasi: The officials and staff of Banaras Hindu University, North Eastern Railway (NER) Varanasi division and other government offices were administered integrity pledge to mark the beginning of the Vigilance Awareness Week on Monday. This years theme is Say No to Corruption, Commit to the Nation.Addressing officials at the launch of the awareness week, BHU VC Prof Sudhir Kumar Jain exhorted the university staff to constructively contribute in transforming the administrative processes and systems which in turn will help in creating a positive perception about the university.Prof Jain said admissions, recruitment and procurement are the three areas that have a lasting impression on how stakeholders and people in general perceive the university.Lapses or lack of efficiency in these areas adversely affect the overall performance of any university or educational institution, and hamper the progress towards academic excellence, he said adding that the Vigilance Awareness Week gives an opportunity to ponder on measures and steps to bring positive changes in the system . In his address BHU registrar Prof Arun Kumar Singh said that the change has to begin at the individual level.
