‘Boundary wall against Malaviya vision’

Varanasi: With announcement of preparation of a proposal to construct boundary wall of IIT-BHU on the Banaras Hindu Universitypremises, voices of dissent are rising from different quarters. Former BHU vice chancellor Prof Panjab Singh, who had made the proposals for upgrading IT-BHU and IMS-BHU to IIT and AIMS in 2007-08, said he was now regretting the initiative. Political science professor, Kaushal Kishore Mishra, said those demanding partition of Malaviyas creation were traitors.Former office-bearers of the universitys student unions are terming it illogical and impractical. While some groups have protested against the wall construction, additional security measures, such as restricting movement and establishing a surveillance system, have also been put in place. An FIR has been lodged and authorities are working to identify the individuals responsible. A large gathering of students staged a protest near the hostel in response to the incident. The students called off their protest after being assured of their safety and swift action against the culprits.
