1 held with 50 lakh cash from Varanasi Jn

Varanasi: Government Railway Police, Varanasi Junction on Sunday caught a person from West Bengal with unaccounted cash worth Rs 50 lakh. The GRP called income tax officials for further investigation. Producing the arrested person before reporters, CO GRP Kunwar Pratap Singh said that in view of the huge rush due to festive season massive checking is being carried out in and around the railway station.During the drive, a team led by inspector GRP Hemant Singh noticed a suspicious looking youth near escalator of the new foot overbridge on platform-9.As police headed towards him, the youth tried to escape, but his bid was foiled by the GRP personnel and they caught him. On checking his bag, Rs 50 lakh cash was found, said the CO. The cash carrier was identified as Govind Paik of Kolkata.
