Mau-Mum weekly train flagged off

Varanasi: Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Wednesday flagged off a weekly train between Mau and Mumbai (Lokmanya Tilak Terminus) through video conferencing.While addressing the event, Vaishnav said PM Narendra Modi considers railways as a major link in the development of the country. As part of the governments efforts to transform the sector, 100% electrification of railways has been done in Uttar Pradesh.The minister further said UP is a huge state and has potential from every point of view. An allocation of Rs 17,507 crore was made in the budget for expansion and development of railway infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh in 2023-24, which is almost 16 times more than the average Rs 1109 crore of 2009-14.Addressing the function organized in Mau, UP minister Arvind Kumar Sharma said introduction of a new train by the ministry has fulfilled a long-awaited demand of the people. People here had been facing difficulties in travelling to Mumbai. Maus textile industry is famous in the country and 50% of sarees made here are exported to Mumbai. The train is expected to be virtually inaugurated on November 22. Currently, there are eight trains connecting Mau Junction to Mumbai, but there has been a demand for a direct express train. The new weekly express train will cover various stations in Uttar Pradesh and is scheduled to operate on Saturdays from Mau Junction and Mondays from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus.Railway to run 6 special trains between Mumbai-Ahmedabad for ICC Cricket World Cup finalThe Western Railway and Central Railway will operate six special trains between Mumbai and Ahmedabad for the ICC Cricket World Cup final match. The trains will run on specific dates and depart from Mumbai Central and Bandra Terminus stations. In addition, the Central Railway will run 16 special trains between Mumbai and Mangaluru, as well as Mumbai and Karmali, to accommodate the extra rush during Christmas and winter. Bookings for these special trains can be made at reservation centers or online.Central Railway to run 36 Special trains between Mumbai-Thivim, Pune/Panvel-Karmali and Pune -AjniCentral Railway will be operating 36 Special Trains between Mumbai-Thivim, Pune-Karmali, Panvel Karmali, and Pune-Ajni to accommodate the increased number of passengers during Christmas and Winter-2023. The trains will consist of various classes including AC-2 Tier, AC-3 Tier, Sleeper Class, and General Second Class. Bookings for these special trains can be made starting from November 21, 2023. Additionally, Railways will also run 4 fully reserved Puja Special Trains between Panvel and Gorakhpur, with bookings opening on the same date.
