Varanasi: The second day of the five-day Ganga Mahotsav witnessed the amalgamation of music and dance at Rajghat on the banks of Ganga on Friday evening.The programme commenced with the classical singing by Archana Aditya Mahaskar. She was followed by Ashutosh Srivastava (bhajan singing), Deepak Singh (folk singing), Pt Anshuman Maharaj (sarod recital), Divya and Rahul (Odissi and Bharatanatyam dance).Padma Shri Malini Awasthi presented folk songs followed by an attractive presentation of KachchiKuchipudi dance by Padma Shri Padmaja Reddy.Earlier, the cultural programmes started with the Shehnai recital by Mahendra Prasanna on Thursday evening. He was followed by Samit Tyagi (semi-classical music), Ashish Kumar (Dhrupad singing), Pt Taraknath Mishra (sitar recital), Parnika Srivastava (folk dance) Shivang Balhakeshwar (bhajan) and Sujit Kumar Tiwari (bhajan). Stalin praised P Susheelas voice, stating that she is famous throughout the country. He also mentioned that the decision to award honorary doctorates was possible because the university has the chief minister as its chancellor. Additionally, Stalin discussed the Supreme Courts inquiry into changing education from the concurrent list to the state list, which would benefit all states. He announced a grant increase and funding for a research center, library, and learning management system in the university.
