Varanasi: At least three persons were killed and another suffered serious injuries when a speeding car ran over them in Jafrabad of Jaunpur district on Wednesday morning. Some locals caught the car driver and thrashed him brutally before handing him over to police.Jaunpur circle officer (city) Kuldeep Kumar said the driver took a nap while driving for which he lost control over the vehicle.Thereafter, the car ran over four persons-- Rajdev Yadav (62) of Bighai in Jalalpur, Sevalal (70) of Unchva, Shahnawaj (28) of Naipura and Jawahar Pal (24), who were having tea at a kiosk in Jafrabad township.On receiving information, police reached the spot and detained car driver Ashish Yadav and another youth, who had accompanied him. The cops also seized the car.During investigation, it came to light that the marriage of one Omkar Yadavs daughter was solemnized at Samaisa village on Tuesday night. After the wedding, Omkars son Ashish had gone to Sirkoni Dhaurahra area with his friend to deliver some articles at the grooms house. On his way back, Ashish lost control over the vehicle that led to the accident.
