NER GM reviews works for redevpt of railway stations

Varanasi: North Eastern Railway general manager Soumya Mathur on Thursday took stock of the progress in proposed station redevelopment works at Banaras and Varanasi City railway stations of Varanasi division and also inspected security arrangements, cleanliness, passenger amenities, food and drink facilities under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.Mathur along with senior railway officials reviewed the model and layout plan of station redevelopmentof the Varanasi City station in its lounge and inspected ongoing works of worth about Rs 59 crore for redevelopment, including construction of new station building under ABSS.Mathur also visited the Anchar and Papad stalls installed under the One Station One Product scheme.In the second phase of her inspection Mathur along with senior railway officials reached Banaras railway station and inspected the passenger amenities, waiting rooms, AC lounge, food stalls, luggage scanner, pay and use toilets, PRS and UTS ticket counters and other offices.After reviewing progress in redevelopment of Banaras station under ABSS including the construction of a new station building at the platform no.-1 with a budget of Rs 53 crores. She asked the officials to ensure that all related works were completed with quality within the time limit. She asked to give top priority to safety and punctuality of trains. NER Varanasis divisional railway manager Vineet Kumar Srivastava gave a power point presentation on infrastructure related works including station redevelopment, doubling, third line construction and new line construction projects.We also published the following articles recentlyAmbattur and Tiruvallur railway stations to get a new look, facilitiesAmbattur and Tiruvallur railway stations on the Chennai-Tiruvallur suburban route will be redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The redevelopment work will include new station buildings, foot overbridges with lifts, improved signages, refurbished platforms, new roof for platform shelters, passenger information displays, and CCTV cameras. Tiruvallur station will also have a new concourse, extended porch, parking lot, new shelter on platforms, two-wheeler parking, and a foot overbridge with lifts and escalators. The redevelopment is estimated to cost Rs 21.67 crore for Ambattur station and Rs 28.82 crore for Tiruvallur station. Chennai Egmore is one of the 15 railway stations in Chennai division undergoing redevelopment.Fire breaks out at Kulti railway station in West BengalA fire broke out at Kulti Railway Station in Asansol district, West Bengal. Fire brigade rushed to the spot to douse the blaze. The reason behind the fire is unknown. Further probe is underway.Posing as cops, duo rape woman at Madhya Pradesh railway stationA woman passenger was gangraped by two men claiming to be police constables at Mungaoli railway station in MPs Ashoknagar district. The duo identified themselves as Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel and demanded to see their tickets and IDs. The couple requested to see their identification, an altercation ensued and one of the men slapped the husband. While one of the assailants dragged her into nearby bushes and sexually assaulted her, the other thrashed the husband. Investigators are going through CCTV footage to identify the suspects.
