IIT-BHU placement: Rs 1.68cr offered on Day 1

VARANASI: The 10-day placement drive at the IIT(BHU) began on Friday with the maximum package of Rs. 1.68 crore being offered to a student. About 230 companies are taking part in the placement drive, which will continue till December 10. About 1,700 students have registered for the placement drive.According to the IIT (BHU) spokesperson, on the first day of the drive, 465 students were placed, including 307 pre-placement offers to the final year students.While the maximum package so far touched the mark of Rs. 1.68 crore, the lowest package was Rs. 12.5 lakh. Besides, 353 paid internship offers were given to pre-final year students on the first day.Some of the prominent companies that are extending placement offers to the students include Uber, Goldman Sachs, Google, HUL, Microsoft, AQR Capital, JPMC, Oracle, Amazon, Flipkart, Samsung, Jaguar Land Rover, BPCL, TATA Projects and others. The number of firms coming to the institution saw an increase this year. Last year, around 192 companies from across the world had come to IIT-BHU and a total of 335 offers were made to the students on the first day of the placement drive.All other IITs across the country began their placements on a quiet note on Friday. While the number of participating companies at IIT-Bombay are almost the same as last year—around 350. The number of job announcement forms (JAFs), however, are fewer as compared to last year. By the end of the first slot on Day 1 at 1pm, IIT-Roorkee had already secured three international offers and 358 domestic offers. Its statement mentioned that the institute had received the highest international salary as compared to last year. IIT-Guwahati, till Friday evening, had around 11 offers above Rs 1 crore, as opposed to seven in 2022-23. Around 60 companies had made around 165 offers till 5.30pm on Friday. This was marginally higher than last year. The institute recorded 214 PPOs this year.
