Gyanvapi cellar case: Court to pronounce its verdict on Dec 8

Varanasi: Hearing on the plea of advocate Vijay Shankar Rastogi demanding to make him a party in a civil suit filed by head priest of Acharya Ved Vyas Peeth temple Shailendra Kumar Pathak Vyas to seek appointment of receiver of the cellar (tahkhana) in the southern side of Gyanvapi structure, completed in the court of district judge on Monday.The court has reserved its ruling and fixed December 8 as the date of delivering its direction. The special government counsel for Gyanvapi cases Rajesh Mishra said that the hearing in this case has been completed.The initial argument by Rastogi in support of his demand had taken place before the court on November 30. Vyas had filed his suit in September and hearing on it started at the court of district judge and after the completion of arguments of plaintiff and defendant Anjuman Intejamia Masajid (Gyanvapi mosque management committee) it had reserved its order on November 8.The same day Rastogi filed his plea to become a party in this suit. The petition, filed by Harishankar Pandey, demands a case under Section-156(3) of CrPC against Yadav, Owaisi, and Gyanvapi mosque management committee. The ACJM-V court declared the petition maintainable on November 15, 2022, but rejected it in February.Explain plea for more time for Gyanvapi report, court tells ASIThe Varanasi district court asked the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to clarify its request for an additional three weeks to submit a scientific survey report on the Gyanvapi mosque complex. This is ASIs sixth request for an extension. The mosque management committee objected to ASI repeatedly seeking more time. After the ASI representatives explained the reasons, the court reserved its order.
