Bar counter manager falls off roof, dies

Varanasi: The counter manager of a bar, Sunil Kumar Singh (28), died after falling off the roof of the bar in Nadesar area in the wee hours on Tuesday. A staff of the bar called up Cantt police and informed them about the incident. Later, a police team led by inspector Durgesh Kumar Mishra reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem.After examining the CCTV footage of the bar on Tuesday, Cantt police said Singh, a resident of Singhai Rajatalab area, was in an inebriated state and fell off the bars roof accidentally.ACP Cantt Atul Anjan Tripathi said due to excess intake of liquor, Singh was not even able to move on his own and was trying to sit on the roof railing. He later fell from the building and died on the spot.In a separate incident, an employee of a hotel, Kaushik Dasgupta (62), was found dead in Siddhgiri Bagh area. ACP Dashaswamedh Awadhesh Pandey said a native of West Bengal, Dasgupta was unmarried and dwelt in a rented house, When the landlord did not see him around for long, he called up police. Later, a police team broke into his room to find Dasgupta dead on his bed. Police suspected that Dasgupta died of cardiac arrest.
