Kia Seltos Test Drives Underway Ahead Of August 22 Launch

  • The Kia Seltos will be offered with three engine options.
  • They include a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre petrol and diesel units.
  • Kia will offer all three engines with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard.
  • The 1.5-litre diesel motor also gets the option of a 6-speed automatic.
  • The 1.5-litre petrol can also be had with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
  • The 1.4-litre turbo-petrol can be had with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
  • Kia will offer the Seltos in two trims - Tech Line and GT Line.
  • It is expected to be priced from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom).
  • The SUV will rival the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and Captur as well as the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross.
  • Safety features include upto six airbags, a 360 degree camera and front parking sensors, among others.

Kia is all set to launch its first-ever product for India, the Seltos, on 22 August 2019. While the carmaker has already started accepting pre-launch bookings for the SUV, it's only now that Kia has started offering test drives to prospective customers.

Kia has already revealed various details of the Seltos. The compact SUV will be available two trims - HT Line and GT Line- both of which will have four sub-variants. While the HT Line will include HTX+ (top-spec), HTX, HTK and HTE, the GT Line will be offered in GTX+ (top-spec), GTX, GTK and GTE variants. 

The Seltos will be offered with three different engine options. This includes a set of 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines and a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol unit.

In terms of features, the Seltos will be one of the best equipped cars in its class. It will get segment-first connected car features with an eSIM like what we’ve seen on the Hyundai Venue and the MG Hector. The Seltos will pack upto six airbags, a 360-degree camera, a premium Bose music system and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Seltos is expected to be priced from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, the Seltos will take on SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster, Renault Captur and the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross.
