Get Rid Of Stubborn Holi Colours By Following These Simple Tips

- By Amisha Sharan

If you play Holi with colours that are sold with a promise to last for weeks on your skin and nails, we have covered you in this piece.
The Stubborn Holi colours can last for weeks on your skin and nails if not taken care of. While putting in oil and sunscreen on skin before playing Holi will prevent the colours to get on the skin, constant use of Colours will still leave its mark on.

If you played Crazy Holi and look like a pink or green alien now, these simple effective tips will make you look like a human again in no time.

Shaving Cream

This might sound a little bizarre, but Shaving cream will save your face.  Wash your face with Shaving cream thoroughly; you will notice the difference just after one wash.

 Moisturizer:

Apply a generous amount of moisturizer on your hands, face and all exposed body parts before going out to play.

 Dark nail paint:

Paint your nails with a dark nail colour. This will prevent your nails from getting stained. You can remove the nail paint after you are finished playing with colours.

 Wheat flour:

Take some wheat flour and add a bit of oil or lemon. Make a paste and apply this all over your skin, scrubbing off the colours. Do this just before you shower.

Cleanser:

It is safe and absolutely effective to apply cleanser on your face. Since cleanser is rich in lemon and aloe vera content, it can easily help to remove Holi colours. You can even apply Cetaphil cleansers and antiseptic cream and get rid of the colours.

DIY Packs

You can use a homemade scrub by mixing well the following ingredients- two tablespoons of wheat bran (choker), one tablespoon of sandalwood powder, one tablespoon of rice flour, along with some poppy seeds (khus-khus), few drops of honey and a mashed tomato. Scrub your body with this to clear off the colours and to bounce back to your fair and glowing skin. You can also rub a piece of papaya on coloured areas of the face and body to get rid of the colours. There is another good body scrub you can use to wash off colours. Mix with curd, besan, orange-peel powder along with little turmeric, a few drops of lemon and one tablespoon of olive oil. This will help to clean your skin.

Tips to remember:

  • Use cold water to remove the colors. Hot water will make it difficult to remove the colours.
  • Do not wash your face again and again as this will make it dry.
  • Soak cotton in coconut oil and use it to wipe off the colours from your face.
  • Applying soaked amchur powder also helps get rid of color.
  • Avoid going for skin or hair treatments like facial, bleach, hair colour and the like just after holi. Wait for at least a week or two before you use chemicals or products on your skin and hair.
  • Make a paste using curd and methi seeds powder. Apply this on your hair as a post holi hair mask. This will prevent hair damage and keep your hair nourished.
