If you have been under the impression that Facebook has been ruling the social media platform, you might run under the covers. The scenario in the virtual world is changing at a rapid speed and now netizens have started pacing to new platforms. It is like moving back to a decade when Facebook made its entry declaring Orkut ancient.

According to a new survey, YouTube, Instagram and Snapchat are the most popular online platforms among US teenagers today, taking Facebook down to the fourth position on the list, which once held the strings of social media landscape. And in no time soon, India will see a similar trend.

At present, approximately half (51 per cent) of US teenagers who fall in the age group of 13 and 17 say they use Facebook, remarkably lower than the shares who use YouTube, Facebook owned Instagram or Snapchat, showed that the Pew Research Center survey results released. On the other hand 85 per cent teenagers use YouTube, 72 per cent use Instagram and 69 per cent use Snapchat, showed the survey conducted between March 7 to April 10, 2018.

It is to be noted, lower-income teenagers are more likely to choose toward Facebook than those from higher-income households. Seven-in-10 teenagers living in households earning less than $30,000 a year have to say that they use Facebook, compared with 36 per cent whose annual family income is $75,000 or more, the results showed.

Interestingly, girls were more likely than boys to say Snapchat is the site they use most often, while boys were more inclined than girls to identify YouTube as their go-to platform.

Well, this is what the survey says, but if we ask you, which is your preferred medium? Don’t forget to share your views with NYOOOZ.
