But by maintaining a simple skincare routine can help you protect the skin from damages caused. Wearing mask for continuous long hours can lead to pressure marks, allergies, blemishes, rashes, and fungal infections. The area especially around the bridge of the nose, ears, and cheeks are at the higher risk. When we wear a mask, our trapped breath under it mixes with sweat and oil, upsetting the pH balance of the skin and you end up feeling uncomfortable. Constant pressure on your face can increase possibilities of skin damages sometimes even lead to bruises.

Know the material of your mask before using

You need to be very careful before selecting a mask. Synthetic mask may damage your skin due to constant rubbing and adjusting. Make sure that the mask should be comfortable which absorbs sweat and let the air pass. Better to avoid mask made out of thick materials.

Tips to prevent skin damage

Change the mask design: It is essential to change your mask every day. Avoid the usage of ill-fitted mask. In fact, the design of your mask has to be different while changing so that collagen won’t break and your skin won’t sag.

Sanitize the mask, everyday!: Try to opt for disposable mask. They are best, but if you use cotton mask, wash it every day. Sanitize the mask with antiseptic solution before wearing.

Keep your skin hydrated: Drink enough water. Use a good quality toners and cleansers for your face. Tomato juice can help you get rid of tan from the exposed part of your face. Home remedies are best and can be very effective for your skin to heal naturally. Try petroleum jelly to prevent chafing. Apply it on broken areas of skin and wash it off after an hour just before hitting the bed.

Moisturize skin properly: Apply a nice layer of moisturizer and sunscreen of SPF 40 for normal to oily skin before stepping out of the house. Apply it 45 minutes earlier before going out, as moisturizer need to merge in skin otherwise it will end up your face sweat more leading to suffocation under mask. Moisturizing will prevent skin from chaffing. Especially, if you have dry skin then it needs to be moisturized.
