New Delhi, May 21: Indian smartphone manufacturer Lava International Limited has inaugurated a new Component and Charger Manufacturing Unit at its Noida facility, strengthening its domestic manufacturing capabilities and reinforcing its commitment to the government’s Make in India initiative.
The new manufacturing unit was inaugurated by Sunil Kumar Sharma, Minister of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of Uttar Pradesh, in the presence of Lava Managing Director Sunil Raina and Executive Director & Chief Manufacturing Officer Sanjeev Agarwal.
According to the company, the new facility is expected to strengthen local manufacturing, improve quality monitoring, increase domestic value addition, and create employment opportunities. Lava said the unit will also adopt Six Sigma principles aimed at enhancing production quality, operational efficiency, and manufacturing standards.
Speaking at the inauguration, Sunil Kumar Sharma said the Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, envisions Noida becoming India’s leading mobile manufacturing hub. He stated that the state government is focusing on industrial growth, employment generation, and creating an ecosystem conducive to business development.
Lava Managing Director Sunil Raina said the company has spent the last 17 years building a homegrown technology brand with a strong emphasis on manufacturing capabilities, product quality, and innovation. He added that the new facility aligns with Lava’s long-term vision of creating products and innovation in India for global markets, while further strengthening its research and development capabilities by 2030.
Highlighting the broader impact of manufacturing growth, Sanjeev Agarwal said India’s electronics sector should not be assessed solely on export figures and production volumes but also on its ability to generate employment and create opportunities for engineers and innovators. He noted that Lava has steadily built its manufacturing capabilities since 2015 and the new unit is expected to expand the company’s production ecosystem while supporting the local supply chain.
The inauguration comes at a time when India is increasingly focusing on electronics manufacturing and localization, with Uttar Pradesh emerging as one of the country’s major hubs for mobile and technology manufacturing.
