Tripura: Eminent scientist, bamboo water bottle innovator Dr Pawan K Kaushik succumbs to Covid-19

Renowned scientist working in the bamboo sector and Director of Forest Research Center for Livelihood Extension (FRCLE) Dr. Pawan K. Kaushik died on Monday evening at a private hospital due to Covid-19.

Dr. Kaushik was 52 years old left behind his aged parents, a wife, a son and a daughter.

Dr Kaushik, a resident of Madhya Pradesh was working in Tripura for the last 15 years. He has made remarkable changes in bamboo-based industries and livelihood especially in the tribal areas of the state.

Dr. Kaushik started a large number of bamboo-based innovations in Tripura. In 2016, he created a water bottle made of bamboo which was his brainchild. The bottle also caught the attention of Bollywood superstar Raveena Tandon when Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Dev promoted the production of the Green Rehabilitation Initiative last year.

Dr. Kaushik started a large number of bamboo-based innovations in Tripura. In 2016, he created a water bottle made of bamboo which was his brainchild. The bottle also caught the attention of Bollywood superstar Raveena Tandon when Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Dev promoted the production of the Green Rehabilitation Initiative last year.

He had gone to his hometown to meet his Covid-affected parents two weeks ago, after which he too got corona infected. He was admitted to the Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) for treatment. He was discharged from the hospital after his report was negative. He was admitted to a private hospital here three days ago with fever, shortness of breath and other problems.
