Allahabad: Two children burnt alive while sleeping

ALLAHABAD: Two children, Mehngu Lal (10) and Shatrughan (8) of Fazipur village under Manjhanpur police station of the neighbouring Kaushambi district were burnt alive when their hut caught fire in the wee hours of Tuesday.
They were treated at the government hospital of Manjhanpur.District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma , SDM Joyti Maurya and other officials of the district administration visited the site and met the family members.
The family stays in a temporary thatched hut located near the kiln.“In the wee hours of Tuesday, their hut caught fire, probably because of lantern or a bidi, and because of the winds, the fire spread quickly.
“The DM has assured of all possible help, both monetary and in kind that can be extended to the family in this situation," said the SP.
Before the fellow labourers could come out for help, the fire engulfed the hut killing two kids who were trapped,” said the official.However, five other children were saved with minor burn injuries.
