Sambhajinagar to get two economic nodes along Samruddhi Expressway

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The state road development corporation has decided to develop economic nodes along the completed stretch of the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Expressway. To begin with, two nodes have been proposed in the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, along with one each in Nashik and Ahmednagar.A workshop attended by local industry captains was held at the Marathwada Auto Cluster (MAC) here to explore the business and industrial opportunities to give shape to such nodes.Gaigaon and Jambhargaon along with Dhotre Babtara are the places on the Vaijapur-Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar stretch where economic nodes are proposed. A node will also come up at Wavi on the Sinnar-Nashik route, and another one at Savli Vihir on the Rahata-Ahmednagar stretch. The goal is to optimize the present economic potential of different regions and attract investments to promote overall development, a senior official of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) said.Office-bearers of the Marathwada Association of Small Scale Industries and Agriculture (Massia), who attended the workshop, said the MSRDC has sought land requirements from local industries interested in becoming a part of the proposed economic nodes.The existing MIDC areas in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar are almost saturated. Therefore, the proposed economic nodes can serve as places for future expansion. In Thoubal district, armed men shot at JD(U) youth president Bhaktaraj Thiyam, who escaped unhurt. Internet services were previously shut down in the state due to violence and were restored but had to be curbed again after clashes.
