Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga has sought help from Union Home Minister Amit Shah by sharing a video of people pelting stones on the border on social media on Monday. At the same time, the Assam Police has blamed the miscreants of Mizoram for the incident.

On Zoramthanga`s video, the Assam Police said, "It is unfortunate that the Assam government officials posted at Lailapur were pelted with stones and attacked by miscreants from Mizoram to protect the land of Assam from encroachment.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, `Respected Zoramthangaji. The SP of Kolasib (Mizoram) has asked us to step down from our posts until their citizens listen and stop the violence. How can we run the government in such circumstances. I hope you will intervene as soon as possible. `

Tensions on the inter-state border with Mizoram in Assam`s Cachar and Hailakandi districts have been rising for the past few days over the Assam Police`s operation to clear the land allegedly encroached upon by miscreants from across the border.
